1968 Porsche 911L
"Greensleeves"

This is the homepage for Greensleeves, my 1968 Porsche 911L. Greenie came into my life on May 18, 2001 and it was actually quite unexpected. I had been looking for an early model 911 for awhile (68-71) because I like the 911 engine, and because I like the 901 style shift pattern. Pre-1968 the Porsches were quite odd, so 1968 was the earliest year.

Went to Hershey's swapmeet, and there she was. Bit of a mess since it was not all together, but the car did look solid, the engine ran, and the rust was minimal. So after a few weeks of thinking I scraped together the money from my flying fund budget, made a promise to sell my 944S in exchange, and took the plunge by buying the car.

So far it's been interesting. I had to install the bumper this weekend, a simple task except for the fact that the bumper weighs over 100lbs. There are two weights that are bolted into the fenders up there to balance out the weight of the car. It was heavy, but with the assistance of my ramps and a LOT of time I got the whole thing together.

Now it's leaking water around the windshield. Ah well, I shouldn't be out in the rain. Seriously, the car is in *excellent* shape; the only major problems are cosmetic things like the rubber is all toast. I'll be working on it over the next couple of weeks bringing it up to shape.

One nice thing about the car is that it is *totally* stock. No flares, no Fuchs, no third party oddities. The car is strictly a 911, just the way I wanted it.
